COVID-19 OFFICE UPDATE

COVID-19 OFFICE UPDATE

TO OUR PREGNANT PATIENTS:

Currently there is no absolute consensus on whether or not pregnant women are more likely to develop severe disease from COVID-19; however, we have seen this occur with other viral illnesses such as influenza. Due to normal physiologic changes which occur during pregnancy, they should be considered a vulnerable population requiring added caution. With these patients being considered a high-risk group, please help ensure they have safe employment options, which may include working remotely if feasible. For pregnant patient that work in healthcare, adherence to recommended infection prevention and control practices is an important part of protecting all health care personnel. There should be an attempt to limit exposure to patients with confirmed or suspected Covid-19. They also may elect to self-quarantine if they feel appropriate. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, guidelines may change. We will continue to follow current and future recommendations from the CDC and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
